Details - Use this effect to increase the amount of visible details.

"Details" Pane

The will algorithm optionally also process colors and edges in order to make alterations in areas surrounding similar fragments. You can also use this parameter to define the extent to which the detail levels are to be boosted and the areas in which the effect will be visible.

  • Color Detection - detect surfaces with similar hues.
  • Edge Detection - detect surfaces with similar brightness. The higher the value for this parameter, the more precise the detection.
  • Noise - boost levels for the smallest details (noise).
  • Noise Reduction - selecting this option increases the scope of details altered by the "Noise" option.
  • Small Details - defines the level of details for small contrasts (areas surrounding processed points).
  • Large Details - defines the level of details for large contrasts (areas situated further from the processed points).
  • Dark / Bright Areas - masks (conceals) details in dark and bright areas of the image. A value of 100 means complete visibility, while 0 – effect is completely absent.

Tip 1: Overly increasing the detail levels may increase visible artifacts and noise. Check the "Noise Reduction" option to change this undesirable effect or use the options available in the "Smoothing" panel.

Tip 2: If the Noise parameter has been employed simultaneously with the "Image -> Noise Reduction" option, large unified areas without details may form, which is undesirable. To eliminate this effect, decrease the value of the "Noise" parameter or switch off "Noise reduction" in the Image menu.

Tip 3: excessive discrepancy between "Small Details" and "Large Details" parameters can cause a side-effect: borders on the edges of the image. To eliminate the effect, decrease the values.
